No way to complain

The Internet connection has been sooo slow lately. I decided to look on LTT's wimax website to fill out a complaint form. I guess I'm not the only one!

Happy to have a long weekend

I've been pretty busy lately and haven't had much time to do anything extra. This weekend I'm just going to rest and do things with my family. Hopefully I'll get out and take some more pictures.

There seem to be more birds this year than there are wildflowers. Every morning flocks of starlings fly over our farm, often landing for a short rest in the field behind our house.

Happy Melood!

Best wishes to my Muslim readers who celebrate Milood (Prophet Mohamad's birthday).

Peace and blessings to you all.

The baby kept me up all last night.

My computer was sending me warnings that Windows 7 was going to expire. It was a beta version that I had installed to try it out when I got my new computer last year. Well I liked it and decided I wanted to keep it. But you cannot, at least not the beta version. I decided to just get a genuine Windows 7 and forget the cracked, pirated copies. I spent last night backing up and installing... it will take forever and a day to get everything back in... sigh...

Update on the transport situtation

Supposedly the mechanic who's been sorting out my car has finished putting it all back together and is testing things out to make sure it's fixed. This means I will have wheels again soon. In the meantime Hubby has found an SUV that he thinks I'll like. If we get it we can give my old car to the kids as a starter car for them to bang about town in. We'll see how it turns out. Having no car has been stressful.

Time to take a nap....NOT!

Yesterday afternoon I took a nap. I rarely get a chance to sleep in the afternoon and I was so happy to climb under a warm blanket and just relax. Sounds ideal doesn't it? But what do you think happened? I had a dream. It wasn't  a bad dream really, just one of those dreams that makes you feel uneasy after you wake up and seems to linger over you for the rest of the day like a dark cloud.

In part of the dream there was a dark forest that was walled off just like Libyan farms are. It had a high wall surrounding it, but it had a gate at the entrance that was open so you could see inside. It was so full of densely growing trees that it looked black and forbidding. In my dream I was driving a car and drove up to the gate and looked in but didn't enter.

The rest of my dream took me to other places that were friendlier; some shops and a restaurant. The whole time I could see a strange dark man just at the edge of my vision. He seemed to follow me wherever I went but never spoke to me. I ignored him and went about my business.

When I woke up it seemed as though the dream was following me throughout the rest of the day. I kept thinking about the dark forest. It seemed so real.

Wheeless

My car is in the garage and it might be there for a while - maybe it's days are over, seen it's last pothole. So we've been trying to manage with just one driver in the house. Hubby's been doing all of the driving and he HATES driving. But more than that - I HATE be driven by him. He's aggressive when he gets behind the wheel.... very aggressive! And he uses the most foul language I have ever heard... in English and Arabic. Is all this necessary? I feel awful by the time we get where we're going. I'm the victim of road rage just by sitting in the passenger seat. Oh boy do I need my own car again!

My last post was to pay a tribute to a dear friend of mine who passed away. She also went by the name of Khadijah. Unfortunately some people got confused and thought someone was paying tribute to me. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm here, alive and well, just a bit worn out from riding in a car being driven by a maniac. No one has my password to post anything on my blog - so if the Good Lord decides my time has come the posts will just stop.

I'm having a nice week - but I'm looking forward to the weekend so I can hide in the house and not have to go anywhere.

A wonderful friend

Gone but not forgotten. You were a wonderful friend and mentor.
Rest in peace Khadijah.

Everything that we have belongs to Allah. When someone dies we say, Inna lillaahi wa inna ilayhi raaji'oon, which means: Indeed to Allah we belong and indeed to Him we shall return. This is not a supplication just for when a soul is lost. It is a supplication for every calamity that befalls a believer, even if his sandal were to tear. Why? Because everything belongs to Allah and everything shall come back to him. Sit and try to count the blessings Allah has bestowed upon you. Have you ever tried to count stars?

Khadijah you were a blessing to me. God bless you.

Riding down the road to ruin

My car died yesterday. It's been giving me trouble for quite some time now and whenever I tell hubby to please check it out he tells me I'm imagining things. A little over a week ago I had a problem with the radiator.... steam pouring out of it. He couldn't deny that and took it to be repaired. After that it started to leak oil... no, actually it was pouring oil. I'd find puddles of it under my car. So he looked at it and decided it must need a new oil filter. He was really still in denial!

Today I drove to work and I knew that the car was on it's last legs... or wheels, I guess. I decided to take the dirt road to our house as hard and fast as I could. I LOVE riding down the dirt road to my house! I know where all the bumps are and where the smooth bits are. I FLEW down that road today! It was GREAT! And when I pulled the car up in front of the house and got out I could smell the engine burning HOT. It was pretty near to smoking it was so hot.

There was no denying that the car needed help now. Hubby took it into the garage to be looked at. There was not even one drop of water in the radiator. It's gonna need some major work on it. The guy at the garage said the engine will have to be removed in order to repair it. He was surprised that it didn't catch fire.

Yesterday they started  in on the demolition along the side of the Ainzarah Road. Traffic and driving conditions are going to be miserable for a while. We've been talking about getting a new car for me. Now's the time.... maybe this time I should get a tank!

The ride down the dirt road today was just GREAT!... sigh....
